If I Had A Million Dollars..
That day, I got an email inviting me to participate in one of my favourite TV reality show.."Who wants to be a millionaire!", I exclaimed in high spirit and began to make preparations to be at the show.
The D-day arrived, I wore my favourite dress made by me and headed to the show, where I met Frank Edohor, the host of the TV reality show.
I was positive that, at the end of this game show, I would come back home with a big reward. "A million dollars" ($1,000,000)
I had my friends and family watch all over the world, and so the show began. I was a bit tensed and yet excited that at least I had the opportunity to change my life for the better.
The host began with his tricky questions, but I was scaling through, and then it started to get tougher. The question he asked was related to medicine, I was oblivious to the answer since I was not a medical practitioner, I used one of my lifelines, which was to phone a friend. At that point, my mind went blank as to whom to call. Suddenly, it struck me to call Bisi, my friend, who is a nurse. Thankfully, she saved the stage, and then we moved on to the next stage.
The next stage wasn't a joke either, and though the question looked easy, the options were similar and tricky. "Can I use the last lifeline?" I asked the host. "Yes, 50/50," he replied.
Initially, it was four options, but since I had decided to use my lifeline, two options were deleted, and I was left with just two options. I was in a dilemma because one wrong answer could take me back home with nothing. "Hmmm, I surely will be in the soup, if I make the wrong choice, my friends and family are watching," I soliloquized. The sweat started to drip even in an air-conditioned room. "Final answer?" the host asked, keeping a straight face. I took a deep breath and said a silent prayer, "Yes," even though I wasn't sure of the answer.
"If you had chosen...," the host began to spill "You would have been wrong. Congratulations! Now let's move to the last stage."
"The last question doesn't have an option; all you need to do is answer sincerely what you will do if given a million dollars," he said.
My ears stood, but then I smiled because it has already been my vision to establish a very big fashion institute that will have a unique goal and vision to accommodate people from different environments to empower the youth and the less privileged.
There are a lot of people willing to acquire fashion skills but lack the necessary resources, especially finance, to help them achieve their dreams.
So, I would start by acquiring land to build my fashion home, fully equipped with modern fashion tools which will enhance vast learning and make the job easy.
In my institute, people can come in for an upgrade on their skills in needlework and can even start from scratch to learn how to make dresses, shoes, brooches and the like. I will begin by organizing free programs and online tutorials to pick those who are truly passionate about the skill and committed to making a difference too.
I will also make free outfits and accessories like dresses, hats, and bags and gift them to the orphanages and widows just to put a smile on their faces.
I will open a clothing line where I can sell ready-to-wear outfits made by me, which will take my brand worldwide.........
Before I could finish talking, I heard a round of applause from the audience, and then the host said, "Congratulations! You just won yourself a sum of one million dollars." I was excited.
Frank brought out the Giant Novelty Cheque with my name boldly written on it, and as I was about to receive the cheque, I heard my phone ringing, "No sleep, wake up..collect your money." I was jolted back to reality and realized I had been dreaming all along.
I sighed and picked up the call; it was a client asking for the time she could come for the fitting of her dress.
After the call, I laid back on the bed and thought of the dream I just had, and I wished it would come true someday.
