Tonye The Ballerina.
"You can do it," a resounding voice echoed from the other end of the empty hall, where Tonye was seated in her red tutu skirt and white leotard costume, rehearsing for the Fire Audition.
She turned around to see who it was, only to find Donald by the corner of the hall smiling and cheering her on to do better.
Looking like a bride deserted at the altar, she stepped closer to Donald."I am scared, Don; I don't think I can make it to the audition ", she managed to express her fears to the only person who believed in her.
Donald showed his support by tapping her on the shoulder and reminding her why she needed to hang in there and give it another shot. "You got this, my superstar". He cheered once again.
"I don't know why you always believe in me, even when I don't believe in myself," giving him a nudge. "Well, I would give this another shot." She responded, wearing the look of a hero.
That night, Tonye was determined to put in her best in her rehearsals as the fire audition was slated for the next day.
"Sit here, Don, and watch me do my thing", She led him to her favorite spot and let him have a seat. She wore her flexible pointe shoes, which have thin soles and are lightweight, and then she walked gracefully to the podium.
Tonye stood for about three minutes in silence before her cheerleader Donald broke the silence, saying, "Go on, superstar, breathe in, breathe out, now show me the magic!" Those words raised her ego as she wore the wildest smile ever: "Okay, Don! Let me show you the magic!"
As the music began to play, she started stepping slowly with precision, which was accompanied by floating turns and piercing leaps. As the music changed tempo, Tonye could be seen staining against invisible binds, zigzagging, twisting, and swaying from left to right.
She stood on her tippytoes and slightly lowered them to the ground, and then she stylishly formed the alphabet D with her toes. She spread her two hands slightly in the air, which made it easy for her to spin, as she whirled, she ran slowly and for every time she whirled in intervals, her red tutu skirt and leopard costume had a magical effect that made Donald captivated by the way she danced like a fire dancer.
"There goes my fire dancer", he cheered her every time she whirled around and around non-stop until she stopped the dance with the "grand jetΓ© " a leap spilt that ballet dancers always do.
Donald honored her dancing skill with a standing ovation and applause, saying, "You killed it, Tonye. Now save the best dance for tomorrow; it's almost 11:30 p.m.".
"Yes, please," she said while taking off her pointe shoes. "You brought out the best in me tonight, and I am sure with you in the audience cheering me, I will do better tomorrow. Thank you, Don."
The next day, which was D-day, Tonye was confident that she would come out victorious because she had conquered her fears last night.
As soon as the judges called upon her, she remembered Donald's words, "You can do it!" and as soon as she sighted Donald in the audience cheering her up, she believed in herself, casting her fears aside, and so she danced away in front of the judges and audience, and just as she believed in herself, she performed beyond her expectations just as a ballerina fire dancer would at the Fire audition.
At the end of the audition, Tonye came in as the first runner-up and never stopped thanking Donald for the boost the other night. "You reminded me who I was. Thank you, Donald,", she said, hugging him so tightly as they walked out of the audition hall, celebrating their victory.
