Everyone is fighting something we know nothing about, even when they fake the smile to avoid unnecessary questions. Life is already hard and so we need to be very kind to anyone we come across.

A significant portion of the world’s population is suffering with depression. What things do you feel are the most helpful to those people in fighting the blues?

One thing I've found out is that words have so much power, which is why we all should learn to bridle our tongue. You have no idea how many times the words you've said to someone rings a bell in their head and even add to their struggles.

It cost nothing to be kind not just in deeds but in words as well.

Nothing beats a Listening ear, many people just love to be heard without being judged. I have noticed that people try to hide what's bottling them inside because many people do not genuinely care, it's either they are listening to use it against them later in the future or they are listening to put a blame on them why they followed a wrong course and the likes.

Based on that, people rather keep to themselves than tell it to a friend and when one bottles up pain for so long, it cost them a lot, it can even cost them their life.

For anyone facing depression, listening to uplifting music or podcast can go a long way to heal them. Wake up everyday with the intention to conquer life and not the other way round. Speak all the good things you want to manifest in your life.

Think about your loved ones and the pain you would inflict on them when you give up on them, yourself and life itself.

This is why one needs to cultivate gratitude as a habit. No matter how bad our lives seem to get, there must be something good about it, something we have that others are struggling to have. It could be a wonderful family, friends, job and even the little things.

Develop a habit to practice gratitude for everytime you wake up. I came across this 30days gratitude challenge and for sure I know it will be helpful to anyone fighting the blues.

Everyday, you are challenged to write what you're grateful for and that itself is a big distraction to what's going South in your life. It helps you reflect more on your wins than focusing on your loss.

Prayer is a peace pill. There are so many things humans cannot solve for us, but a divine connection will bring you all the peace you crave and even profer you with wisdom to deal and cope with your challenges.

Sometimes, your environment has a bearing on you. When the energy you're getting from that environment is draining, consider changing location even if it's temporarily. Visit a friend or family member far away from that environment and change focus. Learn something new and never forget to take advantage of the gift of nature.

Lastly, surround yourself with positive people. People that help you see the good in yourself, and in life generally. People who want you to grow and thrive and not people makes you feel like you're competing with their problem. I find it insensitive to brag about your problems when someone is sharing theirs to you. It's like you're downplaying their feelings, and it shows lack of empathy on your part. It also shows selfishness because you're shifting the focus to yourself and indirectly telling them "they don't matter."

Be the friend you would love to have, develop a listening skill, be compassionate and genuinely kind to friends and strangers. For anyone fighting the blues, be intentional about yourself, your mental health, priotise self-care and self-love. Don't ever bottle up your feelings, have a go-to person because, You matter, I matter, we all matter.

I hope this song makes you feel powerful, because you're larger than life.

Powerful- Empire
