How do you tell a person you love them,
When you don't even love yourself?
Is it even possible to pour from an empty cup?
The truth is you cannot give what you don't have.

Learn to care for yourself first,
And see how effortlessly you care for others,
Love yourself enough not to hurt yourself,
Love yourself enough to know when to distance yourself from those whose energy doesn't match yours,
People who make you feel less of yourself.

How do you even compliment others
When you don't even love how you look?

You want people to affirm you every day when you fail to speak positivity into your life,
How is it even possible?
Pray for yourself first and see how easy it becomes to pray for others,

How do you seek peace in the world,
When you are in chaos with yourself?

Do you seek forgiveness?
Have you forgiven yourself for the silly mistake you made in the past?
Have you let go of what is hurting you?
Do that and see how easy it would be to let go of other people's excesses.

How can you celebrate other people's success when you are your enemy?
Have you taken time to celebrate your little wins?
Do that first and see how easy it would be to celebrate the little wins of others.

Now I ask again,
What lies within your heart to give?
Peace?
Strength?
Love?
Comfort?
Joy?
Empathy?
Jealousy?
Hatred?
Chaos?

This is the time for self-scrutiny.
Your actions reflect what you've got to offer.

Don't blame yourself when people give you what they have,
Most grew up in pain
And all they've got to offer is brutality,

Some grew up in a loveless home,
They just don't know what it feels like to love and be loved,
Some even get overwhelmed when they come in contact with tender loving care,
That's all they've got to offer...

Life is a shitty ride,
We don't always receive what you give out,

However;
Your love should be enough to make up for the ones people fail to give you,
You should be kind to yourself regardless of meeting those who are hostile,
You should have positive energy to attract better ones...

And even if the love you offered doesn't beget the love you deserved,
You bow out gracefully knowing that you are enough for you,
The love in your heart will carry you through.
