This question is broad you will agree with me.

Well from my perspective, what makes us human are;

Conscience

The inner mind which tells us right from wrong makes us human, however many people have trained their conscience to do dirty and shitty things which makes life hard now for others.

Culture

What is humanity without tradition and culture?
Culture makes us human, varieties of our food, music, and other cultural trait make us human. This trait shapes our thinking and behavior and influence who we are.

Language and Speech

Animals indeed communicate, however, the language of humans, being able to express themselves either thru sign language, body language or speech makes us human, makes it easy to understand each other and live together.

Imagination

The ability to make use of our brains and foresight makes us human.

Having to see things from the eyes of our mind, and imagining our visions, goals, and dreams makes us human don't you think so?

Love and motivation
The beautiful feeling of expressing how much we love someone and how we craved to be loved in return.
You must have heard the saying:

Love makes the world go round.

Motivation on the other hand keeps us going. That is why as humans we tend to do better when we are motivated and encouraged or even cheered. That is what makes us human.

Being sociable
We are social beings, being able to interact with one another, and in all truth, we can't survive without one another.

We need the other person to be able to work, best children, have friends, and families, and even live in a community.

Creativity

Being able to create things and even invent and develop technologies makes us human.

Improvising from the little we have to make up for something we lack, makes us human.

Empathy

What is human without empathy, I assure you humanity would have been so meaningless.

The ability to feel other people's pain and joy makes us human.
Being able to shed tears and also being able to laugh, crack jokes and express how we feel makes us human.

Clothing

Only humans have the privilege of rocking different outfits for different weather.

Our clothing adds beauty to ourselves and makes us human.

Discernment

Animals survive on instinct, but as humans, we have both instinct and the gift of discernment, we sometimes can read the mind based on the body language or speech of others, and that is why we are humans.

Freedom

We can enjoy the freedom to the fullest, freedom of speech, and movement, to choose our religion, freedom to express ourselves, freedom to work and earn money. and have property, and freedom to make a choice.

Freedom to live life to the full and be in charge of other animals.

Experience
Funnily our experience makes us who we are, take for instance, one who has been betrayed makes it hard for such one to trust again, he or she becomes suspicious of people and fears being vulnerable.

One, who grew from a hostile family will grow to be hostile, and one who was abused when he or she was young could grow to be aggressive, defensive, or even violent.

One who had lost so many loved ones in death ends up being fearful of loving completely and is likely to be emotional.

In summary, being able to acquire skills, express ourselves, choose what we want, distinguish right from wrong, being able to discern danger, live as social beings, be generous, able to forgive, able to cry and laugh, able to recall things and even our background makes us human.
