The Revelation.
That Saturday morning, I walked into the coffee shop I have always visited for over some months now, wearing a very beautiful body con red dress with a slit by the side, I had my natural hair styled beautifully and wore very light make-up and a fancy shade on.
"Hey, the usual?" I requested from the barista, and I noticed how he looked oblivious to who I was. "That's funny, but welcome in! What can I get for you?" His response left me gobsmacked.
I shrugged and paused for a moment why he couldn't remember who I was, I mean I have always visited this same coffee shop for over three months now ever since I moved in here.
"Give me a Cappuccino", I responded coldly, as I walked to take a seat.
In less than ten minutes Barista Mike had brought me my order, I was left in two minds if he was a twin, to be sure I called him by his name "Mike", he turned in a bit and then I was convinced that it was the same barista whom I have gotten to know." You mean you don't know who I am?", I watched how he was still trying to figure out who I was, "No ma'am, Do you know me from somewhere?"
"Wow!", I exclaimed, "did I change that much?" I soliloquized, "Okay never mind." I managed to utter.
I wanted to be sure why Barista couldn't recognise me anymore, so I rushed back home, changed my outfit and wore my usual Baggy Jeans, a T-shirt and a Hoodie, I walked right into the store for the second time that day and then I requested for the usual again, Barista Mike was all smiles as he welcomed me in and gave me my usual.
"But I came in this morning and you couldn't recognize me?" I demanded from him. "Really? I am not sure I've seen you today except now." He replied almost immediately.
"I was the lady in red who came here this morning, how come you couldn't figure out who I was?" I fixed my gaze on him wanting answers to my questions. "Really? You looked so different, I had never seen you in a dress before, you are always in tomboy outfits and I had never seen you wearing make-up looking so feminine, I think that was why I couldn't figure out who you were!"
"Oh!", I busted into laughter, " I get it now, I am always in my tomboy outfit, hmm"
"Yeah, you get it now, I mean I could bet with my last cash that, that wasn't you earlier today, but by the way you looked so fine and classy." He flattered me.
"I was going on a date, so I decided to stop by and take my favourite tried and true coffee before hitting the road." I smiled.
"Maybe you should wear more dresses, they look so good on you, You have a great physique by the way, I wonder why you prefer to wear tomboy outfits." He requested.
"That's my signature in the hood. I hope you don't mistake me for someone else when next I try to change my style hehe." We both smiled and then I left the coffee shop feeling fulfilled.
