Caffeine Overload.
Ever tried to escape from an overwhelming situation only to be trapped in the end?
Take me back to December 2022 when I had loads of projects to complete being a fashion designer and I sought a refuge because I was overwhelmed.
Aside from music, coffee intake has always been my way of staying grounded when I feel overwhelmed because for some reason it helps me to relax, and rejuvenate and I meditate during my coffee rituals.
You know during the festive period, I needed to stay agile, up and alert even during the night time to finish up so many pending clothes so as not to disappoint my clients.
That fateful day, I had made plans to cut a certain amount of fabrics and then sew a certain amount too, so like I always do, I started my day with a cup of coffee and began my project.
I had cut all the clothes and headed to my sewing machine to begin sewing but mahn, I felt tired along the line and needed to feel relaxed again, so I made my way to my coffee jar because the coffee was my only companion at that moment and before I knew it I had downed two more cups of coffee.
I intended to boost my energy and stay alert to finish up my goals for the day, well it worked for a little because I felt energized to continue sewing until suddenly, my head began to ache, then my palm became sweaty and shaky and I had this tingling feeling under my feet.
Since I was having a headache I went ahead to take paracetamol, little did I know I had now added fuel to the fire, I started to feel like I was going to pass out as my head was lightheaded already.
"What could be the problem?" I tried so hard to figure out but I had no idea all of these were because I was over caffeinated. I tried so hard to fall asleep, just maybe when I woke up I'd feel good again but then I couldn't fall asleep, I was trapped in between restlessness and confusion!
The whole thing started to make me feel uneasy and anxious, soon I felt like throwing up, and that was when it hit me that I had taken too much caffeine that day, my whole day was messed up.
I began to make a constant effort to consume enough water to flush out the caffeine in my system and after a while, I took a small quantity of herbal tea and walked around my office.
I felt a bit relieved after a few hours but by then, I had already lost out on the precious time I would have used to make those outfits a reality, haha too much of everything is bad, I learned this that day.
Since then, I've been very mindful of my caffeine intake and I try so hard not to pass my limit for the day.
